MAXIMIZING THE IMPACT OF YOUR GRANTS AND PAPERS

Success in science depends on other scientists appreciating the significance of your work through your writings. However, several factors impede your ability to produce the highest quality product in the shortest amount of time:

•Your familiarity with your own work makes it a challenge for you to look at your writing from the naive reader’s perspective.

•Your specialization within your field makes it harder to connect with audiences across the massively multidisciplinary neuroscience community.

•You probably weren’t a language major in college, and your graduate school probably didn’t have a scientific writing course.

This workshop covers the principles and techniques for overcoming these challenges to help you generate clear and compelling scientific communications. Along the way we will discover that the struggle to distill and articulate your work can have the added benefit of improving your scientific program.
